So I'm late to the whole Criminal Minds phenomena.

However, while enjoying the awesome violence (and intense plot!) the fangirl in me couldn't help herself. Apparently, there is no such thing as original thought. You know how Firefox has a search engine box in the top, and sometimes Google tries to guess what you are going to type in, as you type it in? Yeah... be careful who is around you when you search.

Dr. Spencer Reid has an old-school Spock-like charm. What is incredible to me, is how the show designs him to be as unattractive as possible (clothing, mannerisms, etc), but even through the short sleeve button down shirts, weird fitting sleeveless sweaters, and almost middle-school like attachment to a messenger bag; Reid still manages to be gorgeous. He's not trying either. It's like a giraffe... in the way that his limbs are skinny and hardly seem strong, his posture can be isolating, he's not known for being socially gifted... but even with the awkwardness that is a giraffe, humans still find them beautiful. At first I thought it was his apparent vulnerability and closeness to my age (in comparison with the other main characters) that made me drawn to that character since obviously the show was trying so hard to make him unattractive from a conventional point of view. Then curiosity caught me and I looked up the show on wikipedia, and they state the actor, Matthew Gray Gubler, was a fashion model. Unbelievable, not because I didn't find him attractive personally, but because my tastes (and his exotic looks) are surely not the widely advertised accepted image of masculine beauty.

This reminds me of when I found out that Norman Reedus was a model. Again, not because I found him unattractive, but because he didn't immediately represent himself as the conventional "hottie". In fact, several people that have been unfortunate enough to hear me gush about him, are taken aback when I find a picture of him. "Scruffy," is usually the reaction I get... "like he needs to be cleaned up or go through rehab or something. "

In the same vein, I've read a few comments already that Gubler looks like the "junkie" chic trend that went on for a few years (and it still trickles through). It's funny to me because I've always been drawn to anyone (fictional characters included) who are smart and seem like they'd be a good teacher, but on the other side of this case even when a character is specifically designed to NOT be a sexual object, I still find them attractive, possible *because* of, or in spite of this aspect.

Anyway, the typical FBI agent look is portrayed by the character Aaron Hotchner, and Reid is almost an exact opposite in image. This may be the reason why if you type "Hotchner Reid" in the Google search box, you might end up with more smut and less character analysis (which is why I typed it in the first place! I swear! Don't look at me that way! Besides, you have to do research before you just jump into fanfic... not that I'll be writing fanfiction... okay. whatever.)

I usually don't care about Hollywood. Especially  not awards or what not. I mean, a million dollars to act in a movie is reward enough isn't it? Anywho, this year is slightly different because it finally seems as if entertainment is going my way.

Violence, Violence, and oh yeah... character driven, creative plot VIOLENCE.

Also, pretty pictures and lots of them.

Obviously I hope "The Dark Knight" win Best Picture, Best Writer, Best Actors, Best Everything, but I have some of my own contenders in my heart.

Best Story: The Dark Knight, Cloverfield, and Vantage Point.

Everyone is forgetting Vantage Point. That movie was well written and well played, I truly felt like "Et tu Brute?" belonged in that movie. I mean, it seemed like a classic to me.

There are a few movies I didn't see, like Iron Man, Hellboy 2, Wall-e, Speed Racer, The Incredible Hulk (the pretend-we-didn't-make-the-first-one), because of the people I was around when the movies came out. I wish I had. I also wanted to see a few "comedies" such as Midnight Meat Train, Quarantine, Saw, and Dairy of the Dead. Some actually comedies like Tropic Thunder. Some not so funny movies like Max Payne, and Quantum of Solace. I can still see a few here at the end of the 2008 season like Defiance, Valkyrie, and Gran Torino... but I have homework to do.

The reason why I mention these is because all I hear on the news is some bullshit about Slumdog Millionaire, getting in under the wire and everyone in Hollywood wants to LOOK concerned for "poor unfortunate souls" so they are carrying it on their shoulders like a "Free Tibet" badge. Fuck that shit. Yeah,  poor people in a movie, India is "our friend under terror" now blah blah blah. Slumdog came out in November, I haven't heard of this movie until a week ago. They had all of Thanksgiving and Christmas break for me to notice, maybe they don't like to advertise on the channels I watch. Or in the magazines I read, or on the road I travel, or on the radios I listen to, or on the websites I visit.

If this Slumdog BULLSHIT pulls the award from under the feet of well derserving movies, I'll be pissed of course, but then again, it doesn't matter to me in the long run. Those "Hollywood elites" (i put in quotes because I like to believe not all of them are douchebags) like to stroke each others dicks when it comes to "caring" about "the little guy" so let them stroke off. The rest of the world knows what movie topped the charts.

As for TV, I have very little loyalty to anything aside from Metalocalypse, The Daily Show, and the Colbert Report. I can survive on those three shows with some violent filler as long as there is some stupid cop drama like SVU or CSI; or the Discovery Channel & sisters; or shows named "The World's ____est ____: Caught on Video.

Well, thats my rant, self. You will read this later and think, "no one cares" and you will be right, but as long as these 1s and 0s are skittering about, at least you will remember.

I stumbled upon (not using the StumbleUpon site) a site called Reddit.com. within one of the discussions I found this.

Enjoy! In fact, save this to all your digital devices in some way. Play it ALL the time. Link it in forums and instant messages instead of saying "lulz".

DO

NOW.

ps. I still don't have my PC, so yes I'm once again easily amused.

pps. Aviary.com is a browser based image editor. like mini-Photoshop. check out the section of "Tools" for upcoming gadgets.

My notebook PC has been dead since Nov. 5. Everything that was in it's hard-drive had to be erased during the effort to fix it. It's fixable but it would cost the same as a new laptop. Lost all my programs, pictures, settings, everything is gone.

I can't complete my homework.

I can't play my subscription PC games.

I can't even scan necessary items.

Basically, I'm a sitting duck.

I ordered a new laptop on Sunday the 9th. It still hasn't been shipped from the factory. Am I pissed? Sure. Do I show it? Not so much.

Some people act bitchy and pissy to everyone around them when they are frustrated. They avoid going out with their "friends" and take their attitude out on them. I make an effort not to. Courtesy or masochism... same thing.
